That is a really sweet knife!
Well, here I am, a year and a half later, just noticing there was a comment on this knife. It's the favorite of the few knives I've made. Thank you for saying, Karl... I appreciate it.
1084 forged knife, hand filed and sanded, sanded to 1500 grit then hand polished with simichrome. Handle ambrosia burl filed, sanded, tung 6 coats of tung oil buff beteew each coat. Brass pins and lanyard tube.
Nice work. I like the way that you finished the ivory handle. It would make for a good Topic on the ABS Forum.
Sorry for the slow response, Its been a while since I've checked the gallery. Thanks for the kind words, It was my first time using elephant ivory, and I really like the finish that can be obtained. I look forward to using it again in the future, but for now Im consumed with making knives for my JS test. Thanks again, Joel.
Another nice one. I would like to come watch you do some that some time. If you would have a scab like me around?
Every so often, I do demos on it. But I'll warn you now, it's pretty boring the way I do it. At the moment, my shop in De, Queen is getting remodeled, but once it's rebuilt then you are more than welcome to stop by whenever I'm working.

29 June 2012 - 07:57 PMThat knife is very impressive!
Is it a frame handle?
By that I mean, what is the black line down the back of the handle.
Once again, great work.
