American Bladesmith Society Board Guidelines and Rules
Our mission is preserving and promoting the ancient craft of the forged blade through education, testing, and certification. Only active members of the American Bladesmith Society are eligible to register and post as members of the forum to exchange their knowledge about the forged blade and bladesmithing techniques. It is with these standards in mind that the discussions and images posted on the Forum are conducted and displayed in a professional manner in keeping with our goal of education.
Please keep these standards and rules in mind while posting to the Forum. Show respect for the opinions of others and remember that a zero tolerance policy is enforced for inappropriate language or damaging remarks about individuals or their work. The sale, listing of prices, or offering for sale of knives or edged weapons through out the Forum is prohibited. For images within posts there are image posting size rules are in effect to keep the image uploads at 800x800 pixels or less and under 135k in file size.
Forum members, guests, and visitors should always keep in mind that the information made available through the Forum is for educational purposes and is intended for use by experienced bladesmiths using recognized safety rules, approved safety equipment, and good common sense. Bladesmithing tools and equipment may be dangerous, even deadly, if used improperly or with negligence.
The Forum has two Calendars. The American Bladesmith Society Calendar is maintained by the Forum Administrator to post ABS events and class schedules for the ABS schools at Texarkana College, Haywood Community College, and the New England School of Metalwork and is view only. The Community Calendar can be used by members to post bladesmithing events for the community to view.
The Gallery can be used by members to upload images of their work and bladesmithing events that they want to share with the community. The image posting size rules are in effect to keep the image uploads at 800x800 pixels or less and under 135k in file size. Members can have one (1) individual photo album in the "Member's Work Gallery" and one (1) album in the "Member's Events' category. Each member album is limited to a maximum of ten (10) photos to stay within disk space and bandwidth limits on the server.
