This is an area for a recap and posting of photos of the well attended 4th New England Hammer- In.

After I receive the video footage and photos from the event I will assemble a video for the ABS YouTube Channel.

Hey ABS members!

I thought that you all would like a recap on this past weekend's events up here at the New England School of Metalwork. This event was a resounding sucess thanks to the efforts of Mace, Butch, Cindy and all the demonstrators and volunteers. Here are some of the images I have. I will have video of the Battle as well as the Cutting Competition soon.

Lin Rhea donated this stunning blacksmiths' knife to help out our fallen buddy Jerry DiCecca. This was just one of the great items donated to help out Jerry's family.

If you didn't make it out to New England this year...I hope these pics will entice you to plan for next summer! We had a great time with 12 cutters...Dave Sylvester J.S. took the honors with his 1/2 thick monster....second from left!

Another GREAT hammer-in! Thanks to all the folks who made it possible. I guess there were over 40 registered with more popping in and out, especially at the blade show portion of the event. A few highlights for me were...

  • Meeting new folks, especially Tim Potier and Joe Szilaski and their demonstrations. what a couple of characters and talented guys! :D
  • The generosity of so many folks. The auction was fun and successful.
  • A spirited cutting competition with probably a dozen or more contestants. David Sylvester managed to keep his title for another year. He must have a closet full of teddy bears by now. :P
  • Nick Rossi's talent and dedication. As a staff member of the New England School of Metalworks he was a constant help where ever he was. He won the battle of the bladesmiths by popular vote. He placed in the top tier at the cutting competition and just seemed to shine at whatever he did. (insert thumbs-up smiley here)
  • Zach Jonas, JS has talent and CLASS. He donated a killer sub-hilt collaboration fighter to the auction. He made the knife with a blade and koa he bought at last year's auction. (Lin Rhea had made the blade at last year's event.) Zach's building his shop in Londonderry, NH (I believe). (insert thumbs-up smiley here)
  • Dereck Glaser's demonstration making box jaw tongs.
  • The lobster bake dinner with steamed clams and ears of corn was fantastic!
  • Tom Ward passed his JS performance test. (He's the wooly bearded fella with one of his axes in the photos above!)
  • Visiting with Butch (JS) and Cindy Sheeley is ALWAYS a hoot!

Thanks everyone for a wonderful time!!!
