Butterfield & Butterfield 1992 Antique Bowie Auction Book

On March 23, 1992 Butterfield & Butterfield conducted an auction of the extensive Antique Bowie Knife Collections of Robert Berryman and Charles Schreiner,III in San Francisco. The total sales from the auction were $1.4 million dollars. The auctioneers printed a 132 page book of the antique Bowies complete with color photos and descriptions. At the time Bill Moran obtained a copy and recommended that other bladesmiths locate a copy as reference guide.

I was recently able to view a copy of the book and it is an outstanding reference book with quality photos of 160 Bowies made more than 100 years ago. Today a copy becomes available from time to time on sites such as EBAY. It is a book worth searching for and obtaining as a reference.
