Hello,

I just recently joined the ABS as an Associate so this is my first Forum topic.

I make my knives using stock removal

I also make Knifemaker logos that can be etched into your knife.

Here is a link to my Tip page on my Website.

Blue Lightnin Tips

Shortly I will be adding to my new web page on etching your logo into Damascus steel. I hope to add to your technique that you are now using.

Hi Lin,

I'm running tests on what I propose and so far it's working good. This is not totally new but I hope I can add to the method/system.

I hope it will...aid...in the logo etching Damascus

I just today touched on logo etching a SS knife and sand blasting it for blade texture/finish. Looked good.

If all goes well I'll have it posted on my Web Site next week. It may rock the world....or maybe my tiny, tiny one :-)

Hello,

I just finshed this WebPage. I hope it helps etching your logo into Damascus and other steel. Also, if you sandblast your finished knife for texture the steps will work good.

This link is to my main web page. Click on the link to go to the Damascus page. Any comments feel free to email me or post it

Hi,

I just this past weekend took the finished sample Damascus to the "Gator" Knife Show and the idea was judged by visiting Knifmakers. Some were shocked about how it stood out others did not understand the process.

I'm passing this on. I was asked by a Knifemaker if I had soldered a Shield to the Damascus and etched the logo on afterwards. That pushed me to noticed that the shield was raised because it did not get etched when you are etching the entire blade. I got back to the Shop and measured it and it was .001/.002" higher. Here is my WOW...looks good. This is something you can do if you want your logo to stand out and catch a Customer's eye. You can feel the height with your fingernail providing you got one...mine are filed/sanded down a bit

Ernie:

The touchmark or logo created on Damascus steel by your new stencil looks great. I have the photo that you sent to me displayed below.

Hello,

On the above logo I decided to add a Damascus background. The results are on the bottom right of my Damascus etch page. It helps the Logo blend in with the blade. You can pick how deep it is by repeating the last etch step. Just be careful because there ain't no retreating.
