Master Smith Tim Hancock was chosen to make the raffle piece for the 2013 ABS Knife Exposition.
Tim Hancock describes his work as: “This knife is my rendition of an antique Bowie knife that I have always admired. The blade is a tight ladder pattern of 1080 and 15N20, it has a single flat grind, a Spanish notch and a sweeping clip, the double ball guard is of iron sculpted with points and fine cut accent lines. The ancient walrus ivory handle sports a hand formed ferrule and pommel of German silver with simple line cuts for decoration and is mounted with 12 iron head button pins to complete to the fantastic tactical feel of this design. The knife handle is secured with a threaded through tang and a sculpted iron finial. The sheath is leather with border tooling and an embossed alligator leather overlay and a hand engraved frog button. 100 % sole authorship.”
