This is my first attempt at a forged blade. The steel is 5160. After forging, the blade was edge quenched which successfully produced a differentially hardened blade. As quenched the cutting edge was around RC 62 and the spine was about 40. It was then torch tempered to around an RC 58. The handle is laminated wood (sorry, I don't remember exactly what type) which was epoxied to the full tang and the securing bolts are Loveless Bolts. No electricity was used in making this blade.
I know compared to most user's galleries this blade is a little rough on the eyes, but I thought it would be interesting to watch the progression as I become a better smith.
I will definitely do some things different on my next blade, but overall this is a fairly tough and sharp little knife.
