New Scholarship for Moran Bladesmithing School at Texarkana College

 

The Southern California Knife Collectors Club Scholarship award shall be in the form of three scholarships; each in the amount of $800 to be used for the Introduction to Bladesmithing courses at the ABS Bill Moran School of Bladesmithing.  This scholarship is targeting potential knife makers/students between the ages of 18-25.  Preference will be given to California residents on the awarding of the Southern California Blades Scholarship.  If no qualified candidates from California apply for the scholarship, all West Coast States and Rocky Mountain States candidates may apply and will be given consideration for this scholarship.

The Southern California Blades/Knife Collectors Club established this new scholarship in November of 2008.  The scholarship will be administered by Texarkana College and may be used for tuition to the selected Introduction to Bladesmithing course taught at the Bill Moran ABS/TC School of Bladesmithing atWashington Arkansas. These scholarships are designed to make it possible for aspiring bladesmiths whom otherwise could not afford to attend these courses to do so.  For ease of access, the application for this scholarship will be made available on-line in a downloadable form.

 

Considerations in determining the recipients include income from all sources, motivation, age, and references.  The major factor in determining eligibility of candidates will be the state of residency and meeting the age requirement of between 18-25 years of age. 

This application indicating the course desired (only one course per application) shall be

completed and returned to the indicated address not later than March 15th , of each year.

 

The application must be completed in full and the recipient will be determined by the Scholarship Committee of Texarkana College, whose decision is final and cannot be appealed.  The scholarship committee of Texarkana College will award the scholarship no later than May 15th , of each calendar year.   Please note that incomplete applications will not be given consideration for a scholarship and shall be returned to the applicant.
