Second Annual Youth Hammer-In
June 20, 21, 22, 2008
Smokey Mountain Knife Works, Sevierville, TN
You are invited to the second annual Youth Program Hammer-In.
The nice folks at Smokey Mountain Knife Works have invited us to share
their newly refurbished facility in Sevierville, TN.
The event will be a three day affair starting with sign in and informal
gatherings on Friday June 20, and a tour of the National Knife Museum.
The main program will start Saturday morning at 8AM until 5PM, and Sunday
morning at 8AM with a short devotional service and the forges will be turned off
at least by 3PM. Smokey Mountain has
arranged for a block of rooms at the La Quinta Inn just up the street from their
store. The cost of the program will be $75 dollars per child. Please make checks
payable to the American Bladesmith Society.
This year's program will concentrate again on hands on forging and
finish work like last year but with an effort to use the skills that we
developed last year. We encourage
each of you to come to the hammer in with at least one blade that you have
forged. We are seeking participants
between the ages of 11 and19. We must limit the number of participants to 50 so
contact us as early as possible. We
are already receiving reservations so please let us know if you plan to attend
by email, letter, or telephone call to Larry Harley
or Wes Byrd at:
